The month of August was a big one and Iz the intern is here for the last time to give you the inside scoop on all things Polar.

As always, we’ve got some awesome things to talk about from the month past so stick around… even if you do only like to look at the pretty pictures!

August Highlights

August was well and truly packed with action for the Polar Bears as we saw major events at Silverstone Woodlands, Blackpit Brewery, Arlington Stadium and Twickenham Stadium come and go. Never a dull moment for our dedicated team!

The month began with a return to Twickenham for England vs Wales. It was great to get back to business at the stadium to see England take a winning stride as they warm-up for the World Cup in Japan. The weekend also included an adventure down south to Arlington Stadium for Dirtquake, a festival built on the ethos of 'you run what you brung' seeing amateurs and professionals race a myriad of different bike types to be crowned a victor. This was the first time the bikers of Hailsham and beyond came face to face with our Polar bear crew making for a great first encounter, with lots of laughs and pints (as per usual).

The much anticipated Festival of Beer then came along where the sun came out to greet us all for a beautiful weekend with our sister company, Blackpit Brewery. With 17 bars from secret woodland shacks serving up all Brooklyn Brewery has to offer to ice cream vans decked out by Tiny Rebel and Schofferhofer converted to serve beer, the Festival was a total hit for all. Great eats, great beer, and even greater staff - what more could one want!?

You can check out some of the amazing scenes captured over on the Blackpit brewery Instagram linked below - make sure to give the page a follow for some great content on your feed.

We steamed straight into Moto GP where, much unlike the year before, the sun beamed down on the Polar Bears and we served the Woodlanders for one last time in the 2019 summer season. It was a great weekend with yet more Polar Bears joining us for this great staple of the calendar. This same weekend we returned to Twickenham for England v Ireland where we saw England come out triumphant yet again! It certainly was a busy few weeks, but we tackled it like champions…. Much like England and their games this past month!

The Upcoming Month:

We wave goodbye to our busiest summer season yet, but that doesn’t mean we are stopping - oh no we are not! We’ve got a great line up of games where we will be back doing what we do best, offering fast and fabulous service to the spectators of sport at all of our stadiums up and down the country.

If you’re interested in working with us in this upcoming season please do not hesitate to give us a shout! Linked below is our Autumn Dates sign up sheet where you can have a browse of the dates up until November... And maybe even sign up to a few!

Industry Updates:

A massive switch-up in the world of pubs is taking place, as Hong Kong’s richest family makes a move from Pharmacies (Superdrug) and Mobile Operators (Three) to conquering the pub giant and brewer Greene King with a £4.6 billion takeover deal. The family will pay a total of £2.7billion for the 220-year old company as well as taking on their outstanding debt worth £1.9 billion. This sale comes just months after fellow giants in the industry, Fullers, sold its beer-making operations to Japanese drinks company Asahi for a cool £250 million. These switch-ups in the industry earmark some interesting times and points of transition for us as drinkers and members of the industry! I look forward to seeing how the new ownership of both Greene King and Fullers pushes forward innovation in the sector.

Polar Pick:

At the end of every month, the team here at Polar HQ pick an item that we have loved over the past month to share with you all. So far we have had the spotlight on the material; with a big focus on sustainable wares such as reusable straws and coffee cups as well as the odd experience one of us has loved!

This month I wanted to focus on you lot! The Polar Bears of Summer 2019 have been an amazing bunch and Polar truly would not be what it is without all of you. So whether you came for the odd shift or spent your whole summer with us - its great to have you on the team and as part of our family.

Polar Fam' is the best Fam'. Thanks for making it the best summer yet.

Thank you for reading the September Polar Bear blog.
From everyone at Polar, we hope you have a great month!
