IT CERTAINLY HAS BEEN A BUSY MONTH!

Another month, another update - here we are! I can't believe we are in July already, it has certainly been a busy month.

I am back with the action-packed rundown of what we’ve been getting on with here at HQ and what our awesome Polar Bears have been up to, as well as a few more favourites and updates from the world surrounding Polar Bars and Events.

I will also be announcing the winner of our first competition who will be the very lucky recipient of our very special Bira Cricket World Cup t-shirt and possibly rolling out another competition for the month ahead….

June Highlights

June was the month of concerts for us here at Polar, spanning all genres and audiences. We had a (head) banging time at Metallica (with a head banging competition between our Polar Bears at the gig) at Twickenham Stadium, then finishing off the month with Madness and Nile Rogers at Northampton Saints - a little different from our normal scene at the rugby!

We continued our tour around the country as the official bar supplier of the Cricket World Cup Fanzone. Travelling all the way down south to host cities such as Taunton and Southampton to as far north as Leeds and Durham. We’ve watched a lot of cricket and met a lot of new Polar Bears! It has been a very exciting adventure.

The Upcoming Month:

Formula One is here and it is bigger than ever! Silverstone Woodlands has sold out and our Polar Bears are at the ready to serve the masses with the best and speediest service. We can firmly say we look forward to this event all year; all the planning, hard work and spreadsheets payoff and it is great to see so many of our staff have a great experience with us at Woodlands year in and year out and they keep coming back for more!

As well as the much anticipated F1 weekend, you will be seeing two of our lovely purple containers pop up in the world-famous Trafalgar Square in central London over the 12th, 13th and 14th of July! *cheers* This will be our last stop on the Cricket World Cup Fanzone tour and certainly the most anticipated with the World Cup Final taking place on Sunday.  The eighth and final location will be the cherry on the sundae, so be sure to pay us a visit and with some luck, we'll be seeing England up on the big screen!

Industry Updates:

With our feet firmly planted in July, we have just seen the world-renowned Glastonbury Festival come and go - as mentioned in last months episode, their efforts to help the environment and raise awareness for climate change are setting an example for organisations around the world. The Festival welcomed the group ‘Extinction Rebellion’ with open arms to Worthy Farm receiving a 'rock star welcome' for their environmental rally taking place at the festival. Polar have loved keeping up to date with Glastonbury’s efforts to champion climate change activists off the stage and those amazing artists on the stage.

With this, I thought I would take the time to explain what Polar do during events to help the planet, with the eco cup! Ah, the eco cup... The unsung hero of a rugby match and concert. A strong and sturdy little fella that requires only one pound deposit on the purchase of a pint (or half a pint). Then once you’ve drunk your lovely beverage served up by one of our polar bears, you can return it and receive your pound back, where the cups are then washed and reused at the next event or keep it as a souvenir and reuse it! All our bars at the majority of events now operate with zero plastic!

Polar Picks:

Through a month of concerts our very own Operations Manager, Gemma managed to fit in a little trip to Wembley Stadium to see Fleetwood Mac. With Stevie Nicks on top form and the rain staying far far away, Gem had nothing but good reviews to report back about the timeless melodies that were on offer.

What you have all been waiting for...

I'm sure you all have been holding your breath to find out who the winner of the lovely Bira T-shirt is. Well, I can now reveal that our grand champion is (drum roll please) The winner is Stu Lamming!
Congratulations Stu - we hope you enjoy your Bira t-shirt!

As for this month, we thought we'd do something a little different and as our journey with the Cricket World Cup 2019 is coming to a close it only seems appropriate...

So here's the deal. The first 50 people to visit us in Trafalgar Square and tell us the secret password get a free drink from our team.
The password is: Polar Bears have 42 teeth, then give us a wink.

Thank you for reading the July Polar Blog.
See you next month!
